Hello people, hello trees
Building Design reviews Piranesi and is especially impressed by its image library and placement tools. Paul Madden writes:
"Within 10 minutes of experiment, my jaw dropped at what this application can do...One click and your figure is in perfect proportion...this function alone justifies buying the software."

An Excitingly Different Application
PC Pro Magazine, UK, July 2003 reviews Piranesi 3. Tom Arah's verdict is:
"an excitingly different application that brings the benefits of bitmappainting to 3D modelling"

He gives Piranesi a rating of 6/6 stars for Feature content and 5/6 stars Overall.

Community Centre in Carson gets great renderings without breaking their budget
AEC Magazine Feb/March 2003 issue has a Piranesi case study based on the work of John Bates Associates, an architectural practice in California.

Tony Torres writes about his experiences using Piranesi for a Community Ventre in Carson and reports that:
"The quick turnaround time that we can get with Piranesi has pushed us to use the program in more applications, and we now use it in the design development phases of our projects...We get great renderings without breaking our budget"

A powerful combination
In the latest issue of the Laiserin™ Letter, Jerry Laiserin extols the benefits of working with Sketchup 2.1 and Piranesi 3, describing them as a 'powerful yet flexible combination that belongs in every designer's toolkit'. His article concludes:
" To repeat the point one final time: anyone who designs buildings, whether from the inside, the outside or in town- or campus-sized bunches, should own and use a copy of Sketchup and a copy of Piranesi. "
Laiserin™ Letter, November 2002

Piranesi passion
Piranesi features on the front cover of the November issue of Multi-CAD magazine. Inside the magazine, the review comments:
" Piranesi has no rival as far as I know... for maximum versatility and range of effects Piranesi is in a class of its own. It is fascinating and satisfying to use. "

A jaw-dropping experience
In the November issue of Cadence Lachmi Khemlani describes how when she demonstrated Piranesi 3 to her digital design students at UC Berkeley's Department of Architecture they found it 'literally, a jaw-dropping experience'. At the end of her article, she concludes:
" ...the price of the program is almost negligible compared to the cost savings that can result... Above all, this is an application that the artistic side of a designer can really revel in. "
Cadence, November 2002

Outstanding and well thought-out
Ron LaFon reviews Piranesi 3 in the September issue of Cadalyst:
" With this new release, Piranesi 3, Informatix has once again produced an outstanding and well thought-out upgrade... Piranesi is, purely and simply, a remarkably well-designed and useful tool that should find a secure home in the toolkit of anyone who needs to produce distinctive renderings and presentation graphics. "
Cadalyst, September 2002

Piranesi is great value
Joe Croser reviews Piranesi in the latest issue of the Architects' Journal and comments:
" Designed to bridge the gap between the three-dimensional world of computer models and the static environment of PhotoShop, Piranesi is a unique concept in computer rendering... Piranesi is great value. "
Architects' Journal, August 2002

Piranesi turns a sterile visualisation into art - August 2002
In their review of Piranesi entitled 'Artistic Renderings: Applying special effects to a rendered model turns a sterile visualisation in a 'live' piece of art', CAD User concludes:
" Piranesi 3 is being chosen by many architects as an important tool for the marketing and presentation of their designs... The significance of the software is only slightly outweighed by the pleasure in using it. "

What I really like about Piranesi - August 2002
" You might have got the general impression that I like Piranesi as a product, and I have to say that would be a bit of an understatement... What I really like about Piranesi is that unlike other renderers on the market, you don't need a complex model to start with, and for this reason Piranesi is an ideal tool with which to communicate design concepts early in the design process. "
AEC Magazine, August 2002

Piranesi puts the soul back into 3D - August 2002
" Frankly, Piranesi should be de rigeur for any architectural rendering... It's a real time-saver - and also a lot of creative fun, obviating the need for fiddly texture work. Piranesi puts the soul back into 3D, and for that it should be applauded. "
3D World, August 2002

A completely different animal - August 2002
" Piranesi is a completely different animal from the other packages we've looked at... If you want to turn a harsh 3D model into a hand-drawn illustration, or a QuickTime panorama, this is a strong package. "
Digit magazine, August 2002

Piranesi is superb - June 2002
Computer Arts reviews Piranesi 3 in the July 2002 issue and concludes:
" Piranesi is a superb application. It may not seem like a vital addition to your toolkit initially, but the more you use it, the more you realise the possibilities and time-saving potential it offers. "
Computer Arts, July 2002

Piranesi is a powerful weapon - May 2002
Joel Orr comments on the latest release of Piranesi 3:
" The program makes it easy to create realistic scenes for marketing and communications that are far more artistic than the generally simple renderings of 3D CAD... This is a powerful weapon for the marketing arsenal of any AEC firm. "
the CADwire, May 2002

Cadence praises Piranesi - January 2002
" Think of Photoshop customised for architectural renderings and you have Piranesi... There are loads of tools, features, and special effects that allow the user to take a plain computer-generated view and very easily transform it to a sophisticated, artistic looking rendering, in various styles reflecting different moods. "
Cadence magazine, January 2002

Fantastic product - January 2002
The January 2002 edition of AEC Magazine reviewed the SketchUp Modeller, and commented:
" SketchUp has been given the ability to export models in the EPIX format for rendering in Piranesi, which combines the intelligence of 3D modelling with the direct control, interactivity, and representational freedom of a paint program, and is a fantastic product in its own right. "
AEC Magazine, January 2002

Breathtaking images - January 2002
Cadalyst is full of praise for Piranesi in their January issue, noting its speed, flexibility and the quality of its results.
" Piranesi offers options that no other application evaluated [by Cadalyst] does. For those involved in producing visualizations, it's difficult to imagine not having a copy of Piranesi. "

Image and Intention with LightWave and Piranesi - February 2001
Architecture Week carries an in-depth article about how Paradigm Productions LLC make use of LightWave and Piranesi to create architectural presentations.
" In Piranesi, entourage can be placed 'behind' objects in the original LightWave rendering. For example, a person can be put behind a column and Piranesi will automatically clip out the portion that should be hidden. The ability to "drop in" entourage with 3D data and create automatic shadows is a great time saver. "
Architecture Week, February 2001

How to create better images in less time - September 2000
AJ Plus, the online information service for architects, carries a feature article about Piranesi.
" [With Piranesi] it is quite possible to sit down with a client and try three or four different treatments of the same scene in a session – something quite inconceivable with normal renderers. "
AJ Plus, August 2000

Cadalyst highly recommends Piranesi - August 2000
" You can emulate pen and ink, etching, watercolor, and other effects to produce a presentation that belies its origin on the computer. There's much built-in intelligence in Piranesi, which makes it quite easy to use. If you're not a fan of hard-edged visualisations that have 'produced with a computer' stamped all over them, Piranesi may be just what you need. If you're like me at all, you'll find it fun to use... Piranesi is a highly recommended product. "
Cadalyst, August 2000

Painting by Numbers - June 2000
Patrick Casey of Coda architects looks at version 2 of the Piranesi visualisation and rendering program and concludes
" ..Informatix have developed a top quality product. Believe me, I say that about very few pieces of software "
Patrick Casey, Coda Architects, June 2000

One of the most innovative, responsive and flexible tools available - May 2000
" Piranesi 2 continues to be an easy-to-use application whose design facilitates and encourages creative exploration. For anyone interested in a final presentation visualization that approximates traditional art media rather than the hard-edged, computer-generated look of photorealistic renderings Piranesi 2 delivers... The second release continues as one of the most innovative, responsive and flexible tools available, and I highly recommend it. "
Cadalyst magazine, May 2000

Piranesi bridges the gap between CAD and graphics software - March 2000
" Just when you've spent the last few years getting to grips with your CAD software and modelling programmes like MAX and VIZ and you've been earnestly dabbling with clever graphics software such as PhotoShop, enter a software developer who has come up with a programme that neatly bridges the gap between the two. "
CAD User magazine, March 2000

Piranesi bridges the gap between art, architecture and CAD modelling - March 2000
MultiCAD magazine - a longtime fan of Piranesi - puts version 2 through its paces and concludes that the latest version is even better than before:
" Piranesi 2 software is the only software I have encountered that bridges the gap between art, architecture and CAD modelling... If you are in the business of selling your modelling ideas with your images, it is time for you to move on from the clipped raytrace renderings of the 1990s into the 21st Century. Piranesi is your ticket. "
MultiCAD magazine, March 2000

Adding art to realism with Piranesi 2 - March 2000
MicroStation Manager Online magazine gives Piranesi 2 a very enthusiastic review.
" The cliché is true; a picture speaks a thousand words. Piranesi has a product that offers MicroStation-based architectural practices additional eloquence. The software offers a unique solution for the generation of artistic renderings... This is a highly innovative product which I can highly recommend. "
MicroStation Manager Online, March 2000

Piranesi 2 - an excellent application - March 2000
CGI magazine is impressed by the new features offered by Piranesi 2:
" When Piranesi arrived last year it offered a new way of working by allowing users to apply paint to 2D images. Version 2.0 has now been launched and it is just as excellent as the original application. "
CGI magazine, March 2000

Piranesi is the ideal partner - January 2000
C3 magazine sets its architectural expert onto Piranesi, and he comes away impressed:
" Piranesi is an ideal partner for any modelling application and one of the easiest ways to produce accurate images from your models that don't look computer rendered. Natural media rendering solutions are available for many applications but these tend to be shaders rather than an interactive system. What makes Piranesi great to use is the fact that you do feel like you are drawing rather than just pressing the render button. "
C3, January 2000

Bizarre but brilliant - January 2000
Computer Arts reviews Piranesi 2 and finds that it has many advantages over using a product such as Photoshop for rendering and post-processing models.
" Piranesi is an intriguing program that will sit alongside your paint and 3D packages and become another valuable weapon in your arsenal. "
Computer Arts, January 2000
